Atlassian hosts Code2College at TEAM ’24

What a full circle moment.

Our partnership with Atlassian has been transformational.

Though our partnership began with a handful of volunteers contributing to our program through instruction and curriculum development, this continued to grow into a coordinated effort to impact students throughout the Austin metro area.

Fun fact: when we developed the Code2College student values in 2019, they were actually based largely on Atlassian’s five values.

And in 2020, Atlassian took the next step to become a visionary partner by hosting Code2College high school students as software engineering interns.

But what meant even more was that just a month after that initial commitment, was that Atlassian HONORED their commitment in the face of COVID lockdown and half of our other partners rescinding offers as the world scrambled to figure out remote work.

Atlassian has become the leader in remote work with their phenomenal hashtag#TeamAnywhere policy and group, and what started as an initial investment in 4 High School Summer interns has grown to hosting over 80 to date with 35 HS Interns hired for this Summer alone.

1,000+ volunteer hours, 100s of Atlassians who have volunteered, 500+ students impacted in some way by an Atlassian, 80+ HS interns employed to date and who knows how many projects shipped.

And then this past week, our CEO had the opportunity to meet with Scott Farquhar, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Atlassian, while attending TEAM ‘24.

Scott is and was as humble as he is engaging and eloquent. Truly a pleasure to connect and grateful to him and Mike for building such an incredible org and one so invested in both collaboration and community.

Huge thanks to all of our Atlassian champions: Grace Cadiz, Ed.D for the gracious and generous invitation, Alice Young for being a consummate champion, Steve Goldsmith for being a Day 1 and the entire Atlassian TEAM for always supporting Code2College.

High school internships change lives and Atlassian has committed deeply changing lives and communities through their investment in Code2College.

The best is yet to come.

And as the Atlassian saying goes, “what’s impossible alone is possible together.”
