The Austin 400

The Austin 400

Code2College pioneered the ‘high school software engineering internship’ and has led the charge of placing high school students in technical internships since 2016.

With The Austin 400, we are committed to ensuring that 400 high school Software Engineering interns are placed and hired within Summer 2022 and Summer 2023 by raising $2,000,000. By Summer 2024, our goal is to place no fewer than 400 high school Software Engineering students in technical internships.

We broke ground on this mission in Austin, and we are calling forth the Austin tech community to scale up our reach because we believe students who gain valuable experience within technical fields not only benefit themselves, but benefit the companies they are interning for.

Such as our students who interned with H-E-B Digital and had a direct hand integrating new shopping list features on the H-E-B website and app that Texans everywhere are using.
The high school students we place in Software Engineering internships have a direct role in affecting company consumers, such as our students with Retailmenot who helped fix web app crashed within minutes.

Or our students with AthenaHealth that implemented a new payment option for clients that smooth financial transactions for the company and their customers.
Our students with Q2 helped create a system within the app so that customers around the world can work on their budgeting without having to switch tabs.

Austin is the proof point for the rest of the country. As these students work within companies in the city, their projects are helping clients and customers around the world.

Our talented students showcase their work through Hack-a-thons and Code2College Demo Days. While our current partners continue to see our students grow as STEM professionals, we believe the rest of the country is ready to see their talent too.

See below our newest partners in this initiative who believe in our students’ growth and capabilities.
